Preperation for high altitude!
You will need to acclimatize of course, as with any trip to Ladakh. Most places in Ladakh are above 10,000 feet, making dizziness, headaches and acute mountain sickness (AMS) potentially your bag if you fail to acclimatize. This would be one of the most important things to take into consideration when planning a visit. But Ladakh is set amidst the mountain ranges of the Himalayas and The Karakoram, with perhaps some of the most breathtaking views in the world – well worth putting up with a little preperation. Plenty more about the health risks due to altitude on Adventure Camp N Trek page.
To Do and visit around Kolong Retreat
1. Take a hike to Sarang village and enjoy the rural life of village.
2. Visit Khangsar Khar ( fort ), a 15 minutes walk from the property ( said to have 108 rooms). Once the main palace of the rulers of the Todh Valley. The architecture of the building is a pleasure to see and study.
